Jane Slowey CBE
It is with great sadness that Commonweal Housing shares the news of the death from cancer over the weekend of our longstanding Trustee, Jane Slowey CBE.
Jane had been a Trustee of Commonweal since 2007 helping the then fledgling charity to carve out a niche for itself and bringing her lifetime of experience, contacts and ideas to ensuring the charity was able to live up to its strap line of finding housing solutions to social injustice. For the past ten years Jane has been a centre piece of Commonweal’s development, providing measured and astute advice and guidance. Her strong support for both the staff and Trustees at Commonweal has contributed hugely to the charity over this time.
Through her work as a Commonweal Trustee, supporting projects such as Re-Unite and Peer Landlord, Jane remained a strong campaigner for social justice and the impact of her work will continue to be felt long after her passing.
Whilst deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Jane’s death, Commonweal will forever remember with pride her commitment to our work. We are extremely grateful for her support over the last ten years. She will be greatly missed by both Trustees and Commonweal Staff.
Our thoughts are with Jane’s family and friends at this sad time.
