Commonweal Housing welcomes Social Housing White Paper
Today, the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government has published its Social Housing White Paper, titled The Charter for Social Housing Residents.
Responding to the publication of the White Paper, Ashley Horsey, Chief Executive of Commonweal Housing says:
“We welcome the publication today of the long-awaited Social Housing White Paper, which includes positive measures to strengthen the roles of the Regulator of Social Housing and the Housing Ombudsman, as well as focusing on consumer standards for residents of this sector.
“These were two recommendations highlighted in Exempt From Responsibility, a report published last year by Spring Housing and supported by Commonweal, which focused on the social injustices in the non-commissioned exempt accommodation sector.
“We are delighted that this research has helped move forwards these significant changes today, which we hope will improve the experiences social housing residents across the country.”
