Commonweal Housing seeks new Trustee with housing sector experience
Commonweal Housing is an independent charity working to investigate, pilot and champion housing-based solutions to social injustice. Using charitable resources we provide experts and partner organisations with the opportunity to trial and test new approaches designed to enhance housing equality and justice.
Commonweal is now looking for an additional Trustee to join our skilled, committed and experienced Board. The Board is specifically looking for a candidate that can bring experience and knowledge of the social housing sector, filling some of the gap left by the recent departure of trustee Steve Douglas CBE, newly appointed Chief Executive of St Mungo’s.
Commonweal is actively seeking to improve diversity on the Board and would particularly welcome applicants from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, disabled people, people who identify as LGBT+ and other minoritised groups. Our preferred candidate will have imagination, curiosity to find what works, passion for social justice, good judgement and rigour to help the Board stay focused on mission and impact.
The Board currently meets 4 times a year for business meetings with one further strategic away day session (usually in the autumn). Willingness and ability to engage with staff outside of meetings would be welcomed.
An outline of the Trustee role can be found here. For an informal conversation about this role, or to find out more, please contact ashleyh@commonweal.org.uk.
If you are interested in this position, please send a CV and short covering letter (no more than 2 pages) outlining what you feel you will bring to the charity and to the Board to info@commonweal.org.uk with the subject line ‘Trustee Recruitment’. The closing date is 31st September, though please be aware we will be considering applications as they are received and may make a decision before that date.
