Chrysalis report launched

The evaluation report on Commonweal’s Chrysalis project has been published. The report produced by Prof. Roger Matthews and Helen Easton for the University of Kent confirms the positive impact the Chrysalis model and especially the Commonweal transitional flats has made to those women on the programme seeking to escape from a life of street based prostitution.

The Chrysalis Project is a partnership between Commonweal Housing and St. Mungo’s who receive financial support from LB Lambeth to fund the service

The two year evaluation of the project offers in depth qualitative analysis of the lives of those women on the programme , as well as input from key stakeholders.  The report sets the Chrysalis model in context in terms of the dearth of any other specialist accommodation and support services aimed specifically at helping women exit prostitution.  The summary of the report can be accessed here and the full report is available here.

The Chrysalis evaluation comes shortly after another research report on this subject, also undertaken by Helen Easton, for London South Bank University in conjunction with Eaves looking at the range of services available to support women exiting prostitution.  This report – along with Chrysalis – was featured in a recent article in Inside Housing magazine

The positive learning and outcomes delivered by Chrysalis will feature as part of the St. Mungo’s Rebuilding Shattered Lives programme running throughout 2013
